Happy 40th Birthday Troy!! Happy 80th Birthday Dad!!

This past Friday night we had a suprise 40th birthday party for Troy and an 80th party for my dad. They both thought the party was for each other so they were 100% suprised! I had a blast decorating for it! I used my cricut to make the banner and some other cutouts that I decorated with.

Troy and Dad with their cake

The cake turned out awesome....the black icing was a nightmare to eat! :)

Alex was very upset that we forgot to put the candles on before we cut the cake....so he added them in for us!

Our great friend Jason gave the kids rides on his high speed wheelchair...it was the highlight of the kids night!

Alex showing off his icing tounge!

Ben and Luke...not sure what they were doing under the counter!

A little more icing

Alex was checking out Papa's presents. He was pretty impressed with this tie.

Troy was all smiles opening his birthday presents!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

Happy New Year!! I haven't posted since last year so thought I better get busy! :) We had a very quiet and uneventful New Year's Eve! It was wonderful!! We just spent the evening relaxing and brought in the New Year with a fun toast and sparkling grape juice! Our family has a tradition of opening our stockings on New Years Day morning. It gives the kids something to look forward to after the buisiness of Christmas. My mom started this when I was a little girl and we have carried it down all these years. Some of us were a little under the weather so we didn't move around very early!

Alex and Travis....they look like they are up to something mischevious!

Tyler...I think he is on a growing spree...he is constantly eating something!

Travis enjoying the sparkling grape juice!

Andrea and Alex are ready to open stockings!

Lauren and Luke giving me the 2011 sign!

I'm looking like I should have been tucked in a few hours ago!

A family toast!

We all remembered things about this past year as we made our toasts. Some good memories and some that we'd really rather not remember at all. I am once again reminded of the words to one of my favorite songs when we were going through Andrea's chemo treatments, " Through it all, through it all, I've learned to trust in Jesus, I've learned to trust in God. Through it all, through it all, I've learned to depend upon His word"!!! Trusting the best is yet to come in 2011!
